Visualizing a Win for Walton

When a brand as big as Walton asks for a tribute video, the instinct is often to go big—loud music, fast cuts, and complex motion graphics. But for their "Best Brand Award 2020" win, we went the other direction. We wanted the award itself to be the hero.

As a 3D animation studio in Bangladesh, we often work on complex character pieces or detailed environments. This project was a refreshing exercise in restraint. The goal was simple: take the physical award—a sharp, iconic pyramid—and make it look stunning in a digital space. We didn't want it to look like a CAD model; we wanted it to look like a physical object filming on a high-end soundstage.

The Virtual Stage

The concept was "Elegance through Simplicity." We placed the golden pyramid in a dark, moody void. This allowed us to control exactly where the viewer looks. By using a deep black background, we could push the contrast of the gold materials without any visual distractions.

We treated this like a product shoot in a post-production studio in Dhaka, not just a render. We set up a virtual lighting rig that mimics stadium lights. This gave us those beautiful reflections (glints) on the edges of the pyramid. The result is a clean, premium visual that lets the "Best Brand" logo do the talking. Technical Execution

We used Blender for the heavy lifting and After Effects to polish the final look. Here is how we broke down the process:

  • Modeled the trophy to scale in Blender
We measured the real-world proportions of the pyramid so the weight distribution felt right on screen. If the geometry is off, the physics feels wrong to the viewer.

  • Integrated logos into the mesh
Instead of just pasting the "Walton" and "Best Brand" logos as textures, we modeled them into the geometry. This ensured the light caught the edges of the letters, making them feel carved rather than printed.

  • Built a custom "stadium" light rig
We arranged a circular array of lights around the subject. This created distinct, high-contrast rim lighting that highlighted the silhouette of the award against the dark background.

  • Dialed in the "Brushed Gold" shader
Gold is tricky in CGI. If it’s too perfect, it looks like yellow plastic. We added subtle imperfections and roughness to the material so it reacted realistically to the environment.

  • Composited for atmosphere in After Effects
Raw 3D renders can feel sterile. We added subtle floating dust particles and lens bloom in post. This adds a layer of "air" between the camera and the object, selling the illusion of a physical space.

  • Final Color Grade
We crushed the blacks and boosted the warm tones in the final grade. This separated the gold from the background and gave the video that expensive, broadcast-ready finish.
