Bringing Stories to Life: The Making of Tuntun Toitoi
At FireDrum Studios, we believe that every frame should spark joy, especially when creating content for the next generation. Our latest project, Tuntun Toitoi, allowed our family of 20 artists, geeks, and storytellers to dive deep into a colorful, stylized world designed to capture the imaginations of children across the country. As a top 3D animation studio in Bangladesh, our goal was to create a visual language that felt both modern and culturally resonant.
Project Objective: Friendly, Familiar, and Fun
The client, ACI Pure Salt, envisioned a series that would not only entertain but also build a friendly brand connection with families. The objective was clear: develop a cast of characters and a world that felt safe, warm, and full of life. This required a delicate balance of technical precision and creative heart—a challenge our team at FireDrum loves to tackle.
Crafting the Globe: Environment Design
The journey began with Environment Design. To create the neighborhood of Tuntun and Toitoi, we opted for a "toy-box" aesthetic—vibrant colors, soft edges, and clean silhouettes. Every asset, from the cozy interior of a child’s bedroom to the bright, sunny outdoors of their home, was modeled to feel inviting. Our artists utilized Blender to ensure the light remained soft and appealing, maintaining that essential "cartoon" feeling.
Character Modeling and Technical Precision
Character development is where the soul of the project lies. For Tuntun Toitoi, our pipeline involved:
Character Modeling & Shading: We created stylized 3D models for the entire family. The shading was kept clean and punchy to ensure the characters popped against the background.
Retopo (Retopology): To ensure smooth movement, we performed meticulous retopology, creating clean mesh flows that allow for flexible deformation during the animation phase.
Shape Key Sets: For a kids' cartoon, facial expressions are everything. We developed extensive shape key sets to give our characters a wide range of emotions—from sleepy morning yawns to excited smiles.
Animation and Post-Production Workflow
Animation is where the magic happens. Our animators focused on "appeal" and "squash and stretch" to give the movements a bouncy, energetic quality.
As a leading post-production studio in Bangladesh, we do not stop at the raw render. Using tools like After Effects, our compositing team layered the final shots, adding subtle color grading and depth-of-field effects to make the 3D world feel tangible. The final composite brought all the elements together into a seamless narrative.
